Such work is the lifeblood of leading London-based clinical and cognitive hypnotherapist Jessica Boston’s practice. Her goal is to harness the potential of her (largely female) client's subconscious as a way to shift from their current reality into the one they're desirous of – perhaps taking their minds from fearful to psychologically robust, or from purely analytical to super creative. ‘I mainly work with trauma, anxiety, pressures around perfectionism and fear around what other people think,’ she details.
Her approach blends elements of hypnotherapy along with Internal Family Systems, breath work and somatic therapy. For her, these ways of working reach something that more traditional practices can't. ‘Traditional therapy is about following the way a client talks about their issue. But [evolutionarily speaking] language is fairly new. With subconscious work, what you're wanting to do is understand the felt experience of what's going on in the body,’ she says.
